The ABCs of Refrigerants

In this episode of On Air | The cfm Podcast, you will hear from Commercial Service Manager Will G. as he breaks down the many different acronyms one needs to know to understand refrigerants of the past, present and future.

As the HVAC industry is trying to increase efficiency and reduce emissions from HVAC equipment, it is important to have a firm understanding of the differences in each refrigerant. This episode covers the molecular components that are a part of each one, the meanings of each acronym, and a snapshot of where we are vs. where we want to be as the HVAC industry.

The goal of the HVAC industry by January 1, 2023 is to reduce GWP or Global Warming Potential below 750. As of right now, the current GWP of R-410a is about 2080.
